What is the importance of an SSL certificate?
The main purpose of an SSL certificate is to ensure data sent between external parties (such as webshops, Lisa mobile apps) and the Lisa application is encrypted and protected against such threats as hacking, phishing and identity fraud. This usually involves the connection between a web server (website) and a browser, or between a mail server and a mail client (e.g. Outlook). You are not using the classic HTTP protocol, but HTTPS with the S of security, i.e. Secure.

- Secure: The data is encrypted and difficult for others to intercept.
- Reliable: The HTTPS connection makes it very difficult for hackers to steal sensitive data such as login or payment details.
- Identity verification: SSL certificates are used to verify the identity of the server, which helps prevent so-called "man-in-the-middle" attacks. Customers can be rest assured they are communicating with the intended server and not a malicious party, impersonation or fake site posing as the server.
- GDPR-proof and NIS2-proof: SSL certificates are a required part of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) within the European Union when sending personal data.
- Higher ranking in search results: Search engines such as Google give secure websites a better ranking.
Protect against cyber attacks.
Thanks to encrypted communication, confidential information such as passwords, bank details and other personal information will be protected from theft and misuse. Privacy and security of your data are becoming increasingly important.
